1334 Improving Patient Flow Through the Hand Trauma Pathway

Abstract Aim A full-cycle audit was conducted at our plastic surgery unit, assessing adherence to hand trauma standards by the British Society for Surgery of Hand. These stipulate that time from referral clinic open injuries and closed fractures should be within 24 hours 72 respectively theatre date injury (DOI) 4 7 days, respectively. Method Data initial collected Nov 2019-Feb 2020 re-audit Aug-Dec 2020. Lists were generated 50 patients with including flexor tendon, extensor tendon nerve in both cycles. on DOI, referral, review surgery. Results The results showed poor DOI documentation (open 30%, 54%). For injuries, 44% met clinical 94% theatre. fractures, standard 90% interventions included adding booking form creating a mandatory field system. improvement 95%, 100%) proportion seen 60%. Conclusions had positive impact pathway. Areas include reducing number patient visits service encouraging early decision-making, particularly reviewed emergency department.
